I dug a well to plant a million trees

Starting From a Simple Idea
I grew up in a small village surrounded by nature. Since I was a child, I loved the green trees, the cool river and the birds singing every morning. However, in recent years, I have witnessed the gradual disappearance of forests, and the fields drying up due to drought. The land has become useless, trees no longer grow due to lack of water. These things have awakened in me a determination to do something to change the situation.

One morning, while watching the saplings I planted wither due to lack of water, I realized that the solution to this problem could be… water. So, the idea of digging a large well to provide water for the future forests sprouted in my mind. I did not have a detailed plan right away, but I knew I had to act.

The Journey of Digging a Well
Digging a well is not a simple task, especially in arid lands where groundwater is scarce. I had to learn how to use primitive tools, learn about geology, and face technical difficulties that I had never imagined. At first, everyone in the village thought I was crazy for trying to dig a well alone. But over time, they gradually began to understand and support me in my work.

After many months of hard work and failures, I finally reached the underground water source. It was an unforgettable moment, when fresh water gushed out from the ground, bringing hope to a large area. With this source of water, I began to carry out the next step in my plan: planting trees.

Planting a Million Trees – A Huge Mission
Planting trees is not simply a matter of sticking them in the ground and watering them. I had to learn how to choose the right type of tree for the land, weather, and water here. Drought-resistant trees that can thrive in harsh conditions such as eucalyptus, acacia, and other native trees were my first priority. Every day, I watered the young trees from the well with the villagers and took good care of them.

The plan to plant a million trees was not completed overnight. It was a journey that took years, and to this day, I am still continuing my mission. Each new tree planted is a small step in restoring the ecosystem, but those small steps, when added together, make a huge difference.

Proud Results
After many years of perseverance, I can see a clear difference. Areas that were once barren are now covered with trees. The water from the well not only helps the trees grow, but also supports the surrounding community in irrigation and providing clean water. Wildlife has also begun to return, from birds, insects to small animals. Every time I walk under the green canopy, I cannot help but feel proud of what I have done.

The Future and a Call to Action
The journey to plant a million trees is just the beginning. I know there are many challenges ahead, but inspired by my initial success, I believe that I can achieve my goal. More importantly, I hope that my story will inspire many others around the world. We can start with small actions, from planting a tree, digging a well, and ultimately making a big change for this planet.

The Earth needs us, and each of us can contribute to protecting it. Let’s plant trees, protect water resources, and build a greener future for future generations.
