Among other things, the swastika is a design that is natural in fiber arts: weaving, basketry, and anything where you have one thread passing through sideways. You cannot do a curve except in stairsteps in such a piece — but right angles and straight lines are easy. So it is very natural for artists in various cultures to discover that design through their art. No surprise that many cultures have it.

It always amazes me that the swastika is considered an evil emblem, in Indian culture it is considered lucky and until very recently it was still part of the finnish air forces standard.
